Abstract
Backgroud: The five pillars of DM control had very important to be applied by DM sufferers. However, there was one pillar that has a bad value in its application was adherence in control. One of the factors that influence control adherence was the individual's trust and perception of health. Objectivev: For know the relationship level of trust and perception with control adherence in patients with type II DM based on empirical studies for the last five years. Design: Literature review. Data source: Article search was conducted in ProQuest, Science Direct and Google Scholar databases to retrieve articles relevant to writing topics published in Indonesian and English between January 2015 to April 2020. Review methods: Strategy to searching the article uses PICOST framework with keywords that were tailored to the topics related of health belief, perception and adherence. Articles were chosen by title, review the abstract or full of text the study according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria before being included in the review. Results: A total of 10 selected articles were used in this writing. Five articles on HBM state that health belief the individual has an important role in carrying out healthy behavior such as medication adherence. The other five articles discussing about perceptions of health or illness perception can affect individual’s adherence to exercising control. Conclusion: The conclusion from writing this literature review that found a relationship between belief and perception with control adherence in patients with type II diabetes mellitus based on empirical studies of the last five years. Suggestion: DM sufferers who have low trust and perception were advised to increase their health confidence so that the health process was carried out in accordance with the recommendations of health workers.
