Abstract

Tuberculosis is still one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients experience stress which is manifested physically, psychologically, and behaviorally due to the conditions they are experiencing, thus requiring coping strategies to deal with them. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of sociodemography on coping strategies in pulmonary TB patients in Jombang district. This study uses a quantitative analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample uses 150 respondents based on the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique is proportional random sampling. The variables in this study are the independent variables, namely sociodemography and the dependent variable, namely coping strategies. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Square. The results of the study indicate that sociodemographic factors have a significant effect on coping strategies. This implies that sociodemography becomes the basis for someone in choosing coping strategies used in dealing with stressors, so it is advisable to form a constructive sociodemography in patients with pulmonary TB.
