Abstract
Background: Stroke is a type of non-communicable disease that often occurs in society and can lead to dependence on someone. One of them that can threaten health is the occurrence of strokes that can cause self-dependence. As in post stroke patients experience disabilities in their lives and need support from family during their activities and self care. Objective: To identify family support with post-stroke patient self care based on empirical studies or literature reviews published in the last five years. Design: Literature review. Data sources: Search for articles was conducted in ProQuest (2015-2020), Science Direct (2015-2020), and Google Scholar (2015-2020) database to retriearticles that are relevant to the suitability of the writing topic which will be published in English and Indonesian. Review Methods: The article search strategy uses the PICOS framework with keywords that are tailored to the writing topic. Articles are selected based on abstracts or full text before being included in the review according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria to be reviewed. Results: A total of 10 selected articles were used in literature writing. Four of them include that family support can have an increased effect on maintaining quality of life in post stroke patients. The other six articles on providing family support play an important role in post stroke patients in performing self care in their daily lives. Conclusion: Family support with self care has a relationship in daily survival during the recovery process in post stroke patients. Suggestions Can be used as a source of information as well as a source of nursing knowledge during the post-stroke patient recovery process by providing family support and self-care for post stroke patients.
